Theatrical Activities
Directing As a freelance and university director, Rand has directed 45+ productions at 14 university and professional theatres.
Choreography As a freelance and university choreographer, Rand has choreographed movement or fights for 50+ productions at 15 university and/or professional theatres.
Acting As a professional actor, Rand has performed on and off Broadway, in film for public television and in numerous television commercials. As a solo performer of original work, Rand has received national and international recognition for his work and been invited to perform 10 one-person shows at 45 theatres, universities and festivals throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.
Workshops/Lectures Rand has conducted over 150 guest workshop/lectures at professional theatres and universities and has taught dozens of lectures/presentations on teaching with the Center for Instructional Excellence on the Purdue University campus.

Service (Representative)
Served on more than 50 committees at the division, department, college and university levels, and chaired committees at each level. Served on more than 100 MFA graduate student committees and chaired 20 MFA committees. As Head of the Undergraduate Committee from 1988 - 2007, Rand established mentor-student relationships, revived the annual high school workshop day, coordinated 45 theatre trips, taught more than 75 workshops at regional high schools, conducted more than a thousand tours of the theatre facilities. He continues to serve as the primary contact for prospective, current and alumni students.

ADMINISTRATIVE
Chair of Theatre, 2008 - presentResponsibilities include alumni and donor relations, budgetary decisions, hiring and contracting of faculty, staff and guest artists, coordinating and producing events, setting agendas for faculty meetings, writing reports to departmental, college and university administrators, assisting in the scheduling of classes, sending personal letters to subscribers, donors and students, overseeing a staff of six, bi-weekly meetings with three staff members, daily meetings with current undergraduate and graduate students, addressing faculty and student issues, mediating disputes, making committee assignments, coordinating ACTF visits, daily conversations with alumni and donors, marketing productions to newspapers and media, writing and proofreading all publicity materials, brochures, programs and chair notes, serving as liaison to the Head and other VPA and CLA faculty, mentoring faculty, chairing of the season selection committee, service on 20 committees annually, and the producer of all theatre productions.
